This is a contracted, seasonal position.

The Grant Proposal Writer is a contracted position that is responsible for writing grant proposals to obtain funding from government agencies, private foundations, and other agencies.  This position will perform research and work collaboratively with selected subject matter experts, Vice Presidents, Department Directors, and other members of the Grants Department team to obtain the information necessary to write grants and/or proposals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Writes the Program Design portion of proposals and grant applications.
• Works collaboratively with Vice Presidents, Program Managers, and other subject matter experts to obtain the necessary expertise and information essential to thoroughly respond to the proposal or grant application.
• Researchs service modalities, county information, relevant linkages, and any information that will add to a strong proposal.
• Attends County, State, or Federal pre-proposal and de-brief meetings as necessary.
• Understands county funded non-profit funding endeavors and strategies.
• Reviews, edits, and refines standard verbiage documents as directed.
• Writes reports to government entities, corporations, foundations, and other funders.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services field, or certification in substance abuse treatment.
• Must have at least 2 years of experience writing grant proposals for healthcare, mental health, substance abuse, and/or housing programs. 
• Proven ability to write successful County, State, or Federal proposals and grant applications.
• Excellent research and written communication skills.
• Ability to understand the needs of both MHS and the organization that is offering funding.
• Above average organizational skills.
• Ability to understand and execute complex instructions.
• Intermediate or expert level Microsoft Word skills.
• Multi-tasker with strong ability to work under pressure and the ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and produce quality results on time with precise attention to detail.
