    Families Forward is a Wraparound Program in which mental health professionals and paraprofessionals partner with youth and families to find creative solutions to the family's unique challenges. Wraparound is a family-driven process that facilitates team building and decision making using the strengths and resources of the family and community. Together, the team creates goals to promote stabilization in the home and self-sufficiency through community and family partnership.

     

    Volunteer Intern (Unpaid)

    Position Description

    The Therapist/Volunteer Intern position is responsible for providing individual and family therapy to clients of the Wraparound program using a brief therapy model, as well as participating in Wraparound meetings as part of the Wraparound team. The range of authority and decision making for this position is limited to and consistent with MHS policy for line staff.

     

    • Provides strength-based counseling, individual and family or group counseling, in the home or on site to youth and families receiving Wrap services at the program using a brief therapy model individualized to the child-family needs following the identified Client Plan.
    • Creates and implements psycho-education groups.
    • Completes clinical and administrative paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Maintains the client medical record and ensures contents are accurate
    • Provides case management services for the client and family in the home or in region.
    • Provides required documentation and reports, both clinical and administrative. Participates in case consultation.
    • Consults with parents, caregivers, referral sources, and other agencies.§      Creates a safe relationship to clients to heal, change and grow with special emphasis on mental health and other life domain needs identified by the client, family, and Wrap team.
    • Responsible for continually expanding knowledge and techniques in implementing effective interventions.
    • Participates as an active member of the Wraparound team, collaborates with other Wrap team members.
    • Displays regular and reliable attendance. Reports to and departs from work on time, as scheduled.

    Education/Experience Requirements

    Enrolled in or graduated from a recognized Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or Professional Clinical Counselor training program, meeting BBS requirements to work in a traineeship setting.
