    Our housing programs located in Fresno on the Hacienda campus provide supportive housing units for a variety of populations including those with chronic substance abuse disorders, their dependent children and those with severe and persistent mental illness and substance abuse problems.

    Position Description

    The Resident Manager (RM) is responsible for providing on-site stability and first-level oversight of the residential property as master-leased by Mental Health Systems. The RM partners with the Program Manager, Housing Coordinator and other members of the team to share property status information in terms of condition, needs and functionality, as well as the overall well-being, progress and pending concerns of the clients who reside there. The RM is also responsible for ensuring safe and best practices are being maintained on the property at all times.



    • Maintain primary residency at the master-leased property. Planned time away from the property (overnight) will be scheduled in advance with the MHS Housing Coordinator.
    • Must have predictable/routine schedule that will ensure regular availability for resident support. Changes to the regular schedule will be discussed in advance with the MHS Housing Coordinator to ensure coverage for the property.
    • Participates in weekly check-ins with the MHS Housing Coordinator to ensure fluid communication and collaboration regarding housing issues, concerns and questions.
    • Supports a culture of respect for privacy and confidentiality of each individual.
    • Participates in weekly house meetings.
    • Support residents in upholding house rules, schedules and tasks.
    • Notify MHS Housing Coordinator regarding all emergency situations. Emergencies may include maintenance problems, client crisis and residential safety.
    • Supports and maintains a positive living environment through respectful and encouraging communication. Will support residents in abiding by lease terms, expectations and daily/weekly tasks.
    • Supports a clean and healthy living environment by supporting residents in proper sanitation habits. Residents who fail to engage in proper sanitation habits will be discussed with the MHS Housing Coordinator.
    • Supports residents with medication management as prescribed by the MHS Psychiatrist. Resident Manager will not prescribe, diagnose, administer or evaluate medications, but will ensure medications are properly secured and made available to appropriate residents at regular intervals and as needed.
    • Available to support the overall functioning of the residence. Examples of this may include coordinating with maintenance workers, responding to utility needs and supporting the coordination of new resident orientation.
    • Resident Manager will respect MHS’s drug-free environment and ensure illegal activity is reported to the MHS Housing Coordinator immediately.

    Education/Experience Requirements

    • 1+ years of working with the mentally ill population.
    • Equivalent of High School Diploma or GED.
    • Experience working with the mentally ill.
    • Strong analytical skills and advanced written and verbal communications.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • Approaches all encounters with clients and staff in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
