    San Diego Center for Change is the case management and treatment provider for San Diego’s Central Division Adult Drug Court. We work collaboratively with other members of the Drug Court Team, who include the Judge, court support staff, District Attorney, Public Defender, and law enforcement liaison officers. As the treatment provider on the Drug Court Team, San Diego Center for Change helps our clients achieve success in living a productive life that is free of criminal activity. Our treatment services offer group and individual counseling, and our case management services provide for mental health, education, employment and community referral needs.

    Position Description

    This position provides clerical support for the program and Program Manager. The position consists of administrative support duties and responsibilities such as typing, filing, answering phones, preparing reports, ordering supplies, and sorting mail. This position is an internal and external customer focused role and will utilize customer service skills.



    • Performs word processing, spreadsheet and data base operations.
    • Prepares all reports and correspondence as directed by Program Manager.
    • Prepares documents and makes copies for weekly court sessions.
    • Operates a multiple line telephone and relays incoming, outgoing and inter-office calls and performs miscellaneous clerical duties.
    • Assists clients in completing necessary paperwork to complete admission documentation and establish Medi-Cal record if required.
    • Performs all billing for clients receiving services including Medical, Medicare and third party payers.
    • Maintains inventory of all required office supplies and shops for office materials as needed.
    • Responsible for the overall efficient and effective operation of program administrative department.
    • Prepare correspondence and develop reports from written or oral communication.
    • Aid in general operation of center including running errands, maintaining offices supplies inventory, ordering items, and assuming responsibility for maintenance of office equipment.
    • Perform word processing, spreadsheet operations, and data entry.
    • Provide general administrative and clerical support including mailing, scanning, faxing and copying.
    • Maintain electronic and hard copy filing system and quality assurance program for chart documentation and documents reviews.
    • Greet and assist visitors and callers to appropriate resources.
    • Responsible for safeguarding the petty cash account and accurately accounting for finances.
    • Schedule and coordinate meetings.
    • Comply with all MHS and program rules, policies and procedures including HIPAA standards.

    Education/Experience Requirements

    • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Three years’ full-time, executive secretarial or administrative assistant experience performing duties similar to those required by this position. 
    • Advanced knowledge of filing/record keeping and commonly accepted office practices in a professional setting.
    • Fluency in English required; fluency in Spanish preferred.
    • Type 50 wpm.
    • Proficient in computer skills using MS Office Professional software. Ability to set up sub-directories for files, create tables, spread sheets, and data bases.
