    Position Description

    POSITION PURPOSE: The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for all program clinical supervision, clinical assessment guidelines, clinical assessment guideline review, in-service training and clinical consultation to staff.  The range of authority and decision making for this position is limited to and consistent with MHS Policy for Clinical Supervisor staff.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provides clinical assessment guidelines, conducts clinical assessment skills reviews and serves as a consultation resources.
    • Provides in-service training.
    • Works with County Administrators, PM and other community agencies to identify applicable resources.
    • Participates as clinical expert in weekly treatment team and staff meetings.  
    • Reviews staff charting for completeness and compliance with agency, federal, state and local government standards of care on referrals, intakes, assessments, interventions, progress notes, community treatment coordination and discharges.
    • In conjunction with the Program Manager, participates in the recruitment and hiring recommendations of new staff.
    • Participates in public relation activities as needed.
    • Carries a reduced client caseload.
    • Assures thorough and concise discussion of each client attending to treatment goals, measuring behavior and progress in overall treatment.
    • Ensures accurate and complete documentation on each client.
    • Participates in program quality assurance activities.
    • Assures compliance with a quality standard of care.
    • Develops and maintains a staff clinical training program.
    • Intervenes for non-open cases in a crisis by providing referral to mental health and substance abuse services.
    • MHS requires all employees to attain a minimum degree of training and knowledge in cultural competency, co-occurring and gender responsiveness and to routinely demonstrate these traits in every day work relationships.
    • Participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings.

    Education/Experience Requirements

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Maintains currency in the fields of Mental Health and Substance Abuse by attending relevant workshops, seminars, discussions and classes.
    • Provide clinical supervision consistent with CA BBS standards.
    • Skills necessary to provide effective counseling, therapy and clinical services, and the ability to successfully work as a member of a treatment team.
    • Supervise and manage staff in charting and chart documentation in an accurate, legible, timely, organized and pertinent manner.
    • Working knowledge of both the Psychosocial Rehabilitation model and the CCISC model of dual recovery.

    EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

    • Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling required.
    • Must have been licensed within the State of CA for at least 2 years as a LCSW, MFT or equivalent.
    • Must be able to supervise ASW, AMFT and student interns.
